Enjoy a fun-filled journey back in time with O. HENRY’S NEW YORK, an original play based on stories by the early 20th century writer
considered the master of surprise endings.
The character of the famous author himself along with a cast of accomplished actors
and singers will transport audiences back to New York in the early 1900's for a
humorous and moving visit to a time and a city where, as O. Henry wrote,
“the twin spirits Romance and Adventure are always abroad.”
ABOUT O. HENRY
Born on September 11, 1862 in Greensboro, North Carolina,
O. Henry’s real name was William Sidney Porter.
Although he lived most of his life in the South and the West,
the bustling streets and colorful characters of the city of New York
proved to be a major source of inspiration.
He moved to New York in 1902, eight years before his death in 1910,
and in that brief period, he wrote 381 of his approximately 600 short stories.
O. Henry wrote about ordinary people but in a most extraordinary way.
He is famous for his droll narrations, entertaining characters,
the serpentine twists and turns of his plots,
and his astonishing surprise endings.
